Your driver journey with us
From zero to hero
1. Applying
Every journey starts with the first step.
We read all applications carefully looking for signs that you are customer focussed, have driving ability and are totally reliable. You might want to consider highlighting those traits on your CV or in your cover letter.
If you’re a good match for us we’ll give you call and hopefully make you an offer.
2. Onboarding
So, we’ve made you an offer and you’ve accepted it. Nice one. We’re on our way. Next up is onboarding.
Onboarding is the term we use to get you added to the Amazon system and ultimately ready for delivering.
The 3 main parts to onboarding are:
Licence check
We check your licence to ensure it’s valid and that you don’t have too many points.
Drug and alcohol test
You might hear us call this a “tox test”. It’s a simple mouth swab test and takes about 10 minutes.
Background check
We obviously want to avoid criminals on-the-run delivering parcels to customers so everyone needs to pass a background check.
Once we add you into the Amazon delivery system you’ll receive an email with a link to a company called Accurate Background. They perform all of the background checks for Amazon.
It’s pretty simple, you go online to the Accurate Background website, provide your address history and proof of ID etc and after 48 hours-ish a result will come back.
If it’s a pass we’re good to continue, if it isn’t…the journey stops here.
3. Training
Training comes in 3 flavours, classroom, ridealong and nursery routes. You’ll get paid for all of it at full day rates.
Classroom
It’s time to go back to school. Just kidding, kinda!
You’ll get 2 days classroom training which teaches you how to deliver “the Amazon way”.
It covers everything from where to find your parcels in the morning, to how to use the delivery app and what to do if customers aren’t home.
There is a short test at the end of day 2. If you’ve paid attention you’ll be fine.
Ridealong
We’re getting closer to the road now.
A ridealong, as the name suggests, is where we buddy you up with an experienced driver for 2 days and you get to ride along with them out on the road as they deliver.
It’s a chance to convert that classroom theory into real-world knowledge. The experienced driver will show you how they do it and will probably share a bunch of tips and tricks to make your own deliveries a success.
Nursery routes
This is it. The moment you’ve been waiting for. You’re free to hit the road on your own, but don’t worry, you’re not really on your own, we have your back.
The first 4 routes that you take out on your own will be reduced, so you have plenty of time to get up to speed and find your own groove.
The next 4 routes after that will increase slightly, just picking up the pace a little.
You still have all day to complete the nursery routes so there’s no pressure.
4. Go!
Nice one! You’ve made it. Great job.
You’re now part of the Malooba crew for real and we’ll sort out a uniform for you.
You’re also ready to take out full routes on your own, but you’ve never really been on your own and you still won’t be.
You’ll get full support from the office team either by phone or WhatsApp.
We also have a Malooba group chat on WhatsApp where you can ask questions and get support throughout the day.
All of our drivers and the office team are in our chat group so you’ll get a response before you know it.
Here’s to a successful future!
